In the United States, federal benefits, federal help, federal grants, or federal assistance, is defined as any federal financial program, activity, service or project offered by the federal government specifically to assist domestic private organizations, states, or people in the areas of health, education, public safety, social services, housing, public health, transportation, technology, research and development, and law enforcement. There are also some specific benefits not covered by this category. For example, many federal grants are not intended to be used as tax credits, and the names of many state programs are self-explanatory.
